With summer upon us, we're on the hunt for the ideal swimmers since they’re now a staple in our daily wear. We've already discovered summer dresses, sandals, sunglasses, and handbags that are essential for our wardrobe. Now, it's time to dive into the newest swimwear trends to help you find the perfect swimmers to carry you through the season.

To ensure we’re keeping up with the trends, we connected with Bydee’s Founder, Dessy Hairis, to explore the swimwear trends making waves on Australian beaches. According to Dessy, there are five standout trends to watch for this spring/summer.

Five swimwear trends you'll spot everywhere this summer

Here's all the information you need and where you can shop each trend.

Unique Printed Swimwear

Dessy predicts that one-of-a-kind prints will be in high demand this summer. “Imagine bold, striking, and unique prints that make a statement,” she explains. “These aren’t your usual floral patterns; these are prints that demand attention and literally turn heads.”

The trend is being driven by the rise of boutique brands and a growing desire for individuality. “Consumers are seeking wardrobe pieces that stand out, something unique that feels like a treasure found in an exotic locale, often sparking curiosity and conversation,” says Dessy.

We've already seen celebrities like Rihanna and Zendaya adopting bold patterns that make a statement.

If you're eager to embrace this swimwear trend, Dessy advises letting the bold print speak for itself.

“Keep styling minimal and cohesive by pairing with complementary tones. A prime example is Bydee’s Baci Di Mare collection, inspired by the Italian coastline. Pair our Azzurro or Taormina prints with a piece from Royale, our cobalt blue-coloured Resort Wear.”

Coordinated Resort Wear That Complements Your Swimwear

The popularity of resort wear continues to rise this year, with brands introducing outerwear to complement each collection.

“Whether it’s the same print in a larger scale or a matching fabric, this approach ensures your holiday wardrobe is cohesive and effortlessly stylish,” Dessy notes. “It’s the ideal way to transition your look from beach to bar.”

The rise of TikTok GRWMs has significantly contributed to this trend, according to Dessy. “Travel enthusiasts, often vlogging their journeys for their audience, crave curated, statement-making looks that are easy to assemble yet worthy of sharing. Matching resort and swimwear deliver that wow factor, capturing the relaxed yet polished vibe everyone seeks while on vacation. Just add some tinted moisturizer, Rhodes pocket blush & peptide lip tint, and you’re set!”

A quick scroll through TikTok during the American summer, and you'll notice celebs like Winnie Harlow, Camila Coelho, and Alix Earle experimenting with the trend. “Their choices underscore the growing appeal of coordinating swim and resort wear for a sophisticated vacation wardrobe,” Dessy explains.

For styling your resort wear, layering is key. “A standout example is our Andressa dress, sheer, lightweight, and the perfect layer over our Floresta swim. It’s an easy “pop on and go” option that seamlessly takes you from lounging by the pool to sipping cocktails at the bar, all while looking effortlessly chic,” she told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Bold Hardware And Charms

This is an exciting trend! More people are starting to pair bold hardware like chunky gold rings, belly chains, and unique charms with their swimwear to add extra flair. “These details bring an edge of luxury, turning the pieces into a true fashion statement,” Dessy explains.

“The influence of jewelry-inspired swimwear details speaks to consumers’ desire for swim pieces that double as fashion statements.”

Bydee has been a pioneer in this trend, offering charms on swimwear for over five years. Dessy explains to PEDESTRIAN.TV that with the growing demand for personalized, unique details, the allure of swimwear that feels bespoke is stronger than ever. “Our recent Opa collection introduced detachable charms, allowing customers to choose from five distinct designs or even mix and match multiple charms to create a unique look.”

Like all popular trends, it started with style icons like Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner, who have all been seen in swimsuits with bold hardware and striking details to elevate their beach looks.

As someone interested in trying the trend myself, I asked Dessy for her best styling advice without going over the top.

“Coordinating accessories is key to enhancing this trend,” Dessy explains. She recommends layering necklaces and waist chains to create a cohesive look that transitions seamlessly from beach to bar.

Versatile Bikini Tops

This trend has been around for some time, but we’re expected to see even more of it this summer, according to Dessy.

“People are looking for versatility in their swimwear, seeking pieces that can be styled in multiple ways for maximum wearability.”

This trend is typically associated with triangle bikini tops that can be styled in seven different ways. Unsure how to style it? Bydee offers a helpful video here.

The trend is thought to be driven by sustainability and the “less is more” mindset. “Customers are embracing the idea of buying smarter, investing in swimwear that offers multiple styling options,” Dessy says. Additionally, influencers are getting creative with their styling, including @priricart, @livrah, and @sophpiper_.

When trying it for yourself, Dessy suggests getting creative and experimenting with different ways to tie your bikini straps. “Use the halter ties, cross-over designs, or make it a bandeau style to suit the vibe you’re going for.”

Once you've decided how to tie it, she recommends pairing it with some jewelry, matching bottoms, a lightweight sarong, or an oversized cotton shirt for an easy transition from beach to brunch.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Materials

We hope this is more of a lasting change rather than just a trend in the swimwear industry. Over the past five years, there has been a notable shift towards sustainable shopping habits, with consumers increasingly prioritizing eco-friendly options, Dessy explains.

“At Bydee, we’ve been using Repreve fabrics, crafted from post-consumer materials since the beginning. This ensures our swimwear not only looks fantastic but also contributes to a healthier planet.”

It’s clear that the increasing awareness of environmental issues is inspiring Millennials and Gen Z to shop more consciously.

“This generation is at the forefront of demanding sustainable practices, and brands are rising to meet those expectations, Bydee included,” Dessy told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “We are continually evolving our sustainable practices and are excited about the future.”
