Fans of this plant-based alternative have taken to TikTok, questioning the Mexican fast food chain about the sudden disappearance of their beloved shredded mushrooms.

In response to the uproar over the missing mushrooms, GYG confirmed that this popular menu item has been quietly shelved. DUN DUN DUUUUUN.

“Sorry! For now, the mushroom filling has been removed from the menu,” stated the official GYG account in a comment addressing the mushroom demand.

To make matters worse, it has been confirmed that the filling will not be returning. Ever.

“Sorry, mushroom won’t be making a return, but you can still get our amazing sautéed veggie filling with added guac!” the restaurant replied to another comment lamenting the loss of the mushrooms.

According to NCA Newswire, a spokesperson for the fast food chain stated that the item was removed “due to lack of sales”.

“Unfortunately our shredded mushroom filling wasn’t selling enough to remain on our menu at this time,” the GYG spokesperson explained.

“GYG is working on new menu items in our test kitchen that are even more delicious, so we hope to offer some exciting new innovations for our guests to try soon! Stay tuned!”
