Just having the gold medalist in the studio was enough to move Kate Ritchie to tears of pride.

While on the air, Titmus explained that the surge in new followers and attention from her Olympic success has resulted in an overwhelming amount of social media notifications.

“When I logged back on, it was just a cascade of notification bubbles...100, 100, 100 flashing continuously,” she recounted.

When questioned by Fitzy about the type of notifications and particularly the direct messages she has received, the swimmer admitted that not all were pleasant.

“I’ve sifted through some of the DMs, and there have been some really wild ones,” Titmus noted.

“Some odd ones? Any proposals?” Fitzy inquired further.

“No proposals, but some messages make me wonder, ‘What makes you think you could write that to someone?’” the Olympian replied.

Although Ariarne Titmus considered many of the messages she received to be “inappropriate,” she admitted some made her laugh due to their boldness.

“I think, geez, you’re quite the character!” she expressed.

It’s truly fantastic that in 2024 we still have to educate people on basic courtesy when messaging strangers online. And by ‘fantastic,’ I mean it’s infuriating. Kudos to Arnie for highlighting the unacceptable behavior of online creeps.

In addition to discussing her accomplishments in the pool and the feeling of being a powerhouse at the Games, where she contributed to Australia’s gold medal tally, Titmus hinted at her post-swimming aspirations.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the media work I’ve done so far. I really like it and feel quite at ease in this environment, so I’d love to explore it further,” she shared with Nova.
