It's another day, and with it comes another remake. This time, we're revisiting the magical Christmas movie (and one of my personal favorites) The Holiday.
So, here we go once more. Just when you thought your December viewing schedule was safe from the trend of reboots, Apple TV+ has decided to present us with a fresh limited series inspired by the 2006 romantic-comedy The Holiday.
If you ever found yourself in the early 2000s dreaming of trading your rainy suburb for a snow-dusted English cottage (and perhaps a charming neighbor), you're definitely not alone — this one's for the dreamers among us.

Jude Law Just Revealed A Fact About The 2006 Rom-Com The Holiday That Will Break Some Hearts
Before you start packing your bags, here's what we know: much like the original heartwarming movie, the series will introduce us to another lovestruck pair, one American and one Brit, each escaping their relationship troubles for the holidays, as reported by Deadline. House swap? Check. Culture shock? Check. Christmas chaos and questionable life choices? Double check.
This season's twist? The series is diving into new characters. So far, there's no sign of Kate Winslet dramatically weeping by snowy windows, Cameron Diaz making us want to resign from our jobs, or Jude Law turning cardigans into a fashion statement. And unfortunately, no Jack Black providing a soundtrack to your heartbreak.

Essentially, it's a brand new cast, so as much as we love the original crew, they won't be returning.
But there's still plenty to look forward to — we promise. The script is being penned by Krissie Ducker, known for her work on Killing Eve and Sweetpea. While it's unclear if the series will blend Christmas cheer with a murder mystery, I'm genuinely intrigued by the idea!
Rob Delaney (yes, the one from Catastrophe) is involved as a consultant, ensuring a healthy dose of humor. Production is being handled by Left Bank Pictures, not by the queen of twinkling lights herself, Nancy Meyers. Since she's not involved, it's time to start creating your own "aspirational English cottage" Pinterest board.

The Holiday Had A Terrible Ending That Made No Sense
Casting is reportedly in progress, with Apple TV+ searching for well-known faces to fill the snow boots, so let the fan casting commence!
Remember, The Holiday wasn't just a rom-com — it was a Christmas box office sensation, grossing over $200 million globally. Nearly two decades later, it's still the film you watch when you want to convince yourself that a spontaneous house swap might just solve all your troubles.
So, add this little piece of news next to your mulled wine and advent calendar: soon we'll have a new dose of love, heartbreak, and perhaps some disastrous British plumbing on our screens. No original stars, but all the chaos and charm you know and adore. Honestly, I can't wait.
